Fort Wayne Housing Authority to Partner in Housing Development
The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority has awarded the Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) more than $882k in Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and a $500k from the Development Fund to support the construction of Posterity Village, the third phase of Posterity Heights, located on the site of the former McMillian Park Apartments.
In receiving the award, FWHA announced the creation of a partnership with BWI, LLC who will be involved in all phases of the construction processes. Prosperity Village will feature lease to own homes and unique supportive housing solutions to families dealing with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The partnership will also include support from Joshua’s Hand who will serve as a community connector, identifying potential residents and services that will enhance the quality of life for residents.
Upon completion, Posterity Village will consist of 58-unit development using a creative construction mixture of duplexes, cubes, brownstones, and cottage style one and two-story single-family homes. The development will lfeature a sustainable design concept and provide services geared toward continued education, health & wellness, and job training for all residents. Residents will have access to an onsite primary health clinic, cash-less grocery store, restaurants, and the University Life Development Center dedicated to Ivy Tech and Indiana Tech where residents wishing to pursue higher education or certifications will have access to classes and free workshops.

Posterity Village will bring innovative construction concepts that will support our affordability efforts and essential supportive services that our families will need on a daily basis. Construction will begin in Spring 2019 and with plans for residents to begin leasing homes in Fall, 2020.
