2018 Strong Family Day

June 18, 2018

The Fort Wayne Housing Authority is pleased to announce the hosting of its 5th Annual Strong Family Day Celebration, as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s ongoing effort to strengthen and empower families.  This initiative, which was originally set forth by HUD in 2011, was done so to showcase how fathers are an important resource for children and their families.  This year, HUD expanded its focus to include mothers, children and parents of all kinds. In doing so, they hope to provide an ideal opportunity for communities to deliver a wide variety of resources to families as a whole.

Our event, being held on June 19, 2018 at FWHA’s Administrative Building, will feature a number a family-friendly activities, such as an Information Fair offering materials on family activities, job and education opportunities, and financial assistance; as well as games, crafts and face painting for the children.  In addition, food will be served to all attendees and a number of door prizes will be given away.

As a part of our continuing effort to create lasting relationships with local social service organizations, we have confirmed that over 20 organizations and businesses will be present as a part of the informational portion of the event.  The information being provided is a crucial piece in order to help our residents reach their self-sufficiency goals, while giving them access to a network of key agencies in our area which offer the supportive services necessary to maintain a stable home for their family.

Invitations to this free event have been extended to all program participants, over 4,000 in total.  It is our hope that many of our participants take advantage of this event and all that it has to offer.
