Overview
Members of the Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Fort Wayne and must be residents within the Housing Authority’s jurisdiction.
Some of the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Commissioners are:
- Policy setting that governs the operations of the Agency
- Charting the future direction of the Agency
- Hiring a qualified executive director to manage and lead the Agency
- Adopting operating and capital budgets
- Assuring independent audits
- Establishing policies that protect against fraud and abuse
- Establishing policies on documentation and record keeping to avoid (or detect) fraud
- Establishing hiring policies and procedures, including screening personnel
- Policy approval of ACOP and Administrative Plan
