Gabrielle McCann was born and raised on the South side of Chicago, IL coming from a very large family of 18+ siblings. After graduating High School at the top 5% of her class, adulthood crashed into her. In her own words “I was a lost soul. I had no idea what I wanted to do as a career. Only clarity at the time was the skills I possess: adaptable, open minded, fast learner, and a deep love of helping others.”
During her quest of self-discovery, she decided to stay busy and figure it out along the way versus standing still waiting on a hand out. Between 2007 and 2012 she obtained her Cosmetology degree, got married, gained her CNA license & college degree, had her first son, and served for 3-4 years with AmeriCorps YMCA Wheeler Mission Community Center and South Suburban Humane Society.
In 2017, after being in Fort Wayne for 1 year, the employment opportunity with FWHA came along with high expectations and looks of a long term career using her knowledge & skills gained over the years. She currently works as the Intake Specialist and is responsible for processing the Fort Wayne Housing Authority applications. As for her future she has both long term and short term career goals for herself. Which would include, extending her education level beyond a Master’s degree. Working her way to the top of her personal expectations. She states “While I greatly appreciate the recognition and praise for my work, it is not my motivation. My life is guided by a quotes my dad use to chant to me at a young age “Treat people how you want to be treated.” My commitment is to improve, assist, and spread knowledge to as many lives as I can while keeping a low profile.”
