The Fort Wayne Housing Authority provides safe, decent and sanitary affordable housing.  Our team is dedicated to provide quality affordable housing for all.  Our mission is to assist in the Investment and Revitalization in the development of communities and the individuals within Fort Wayne.

 

We own and manage over 800 units of conventional, affordable and quality housing.  We administer and manage over 3,000 Vouchers.  We provide homes for over 3,500 families and nearly 9,000 family members.

As a staple and dependable community friend, FWHA firmly empowers families to enhance their quality of life by working with partners to deliver services for education, financial literacy, home ownership, career and job training in order to achieve economic self-sufficiency.  Since 2005, we have received approximately $2,346,218 in grants to administer for resident/people services.
This year we invested over $600,000 in Infrastructure improvements with an additional $3 million for Energy upgrades.  We take pride in working with over 50 local businesses here in Fort Wayne.
 The Fort Wayne Housing Authority strives to become an invaluable and long-lasting community partner with public and private entities to assist in the City of Fort Wayne’s efforts to restore community pride and property values through strategic revitalization and investment plans to develop, grow, and sustain affordable housing. We believe that investing in our properties is not only a benefit to our community, but our residents as well.

Mission & Vision

Vision: FWHA cultivates vibrant, inclusive neighborhoods throughout Fort Wayne, where all residents have safe, quality, affordable housing and a high standard of living built on economic self-sufficiency.  

Mission: To revitalize the city of Fort Wayne by building and developing safe, quality, affordable housing options, while providing programs to foster community, alleviate poverty and encourage long-term economic self-sufficiency.

 

In 1937, the Indiana General Assembly adopted enabling legislation giving local government authority to participate in federal low-rent housing programs.
Subsequently, on the 8th day of February 1938, the Common Council of the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed a resolution creating the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Program Analyst

Elizabeth Kayser has worked at the Fort Wayne Housing Authority since 2001. She has worked as a Customer Service Representative, Housing Specialist, HQS Inspector, and Program Analyst. She was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN and attended South Side High School, Ivy Tech, and IPFW. Elizabeth enjoys swimming, politics, reading, traveling, music and spending time with family and friends.
